Walmart Finally Adds Tap to Pay and Google Pay Support

Starting next week, Walmart and Sam’s Club locations across the United States will finally begin supporting Tap to Pay, including Google Pay. The rollout brings contactless payment options to U.S. stores and clubs by the end of 2026, with fuel stations scheduled to receive the upgrade by mid-2027.

That strategy is finally shifting.

Select stores will see the feature go live next week. Full availability across all U.S. retail locations and wholesale clubs will cap off by the end of 2026.

Meanwhile, drivers utilizing company fuel stations will have to wait slightly longer.

What This Means for Digital Wallet Users

Phase 2 (End of 2026): Complete deployment across all U.S. retail stores and wholesale clubs.

Phase 3 (Mid-2027): Final integration completed at all associated fuel station pumps.
