WAN-IFRA Announces Digital Media Awards Americas 2026 Winners

WAN-IFRA announced the winners of the 2026 Digital Media Awards Americas during a ceremony in Bogotá on 15 April, held as part of the Digital Media LATAM event. Over 116 projects from media organisations across North, Central and South America were evaluated, with winners advancing to the global stage of the Digital Media Awards Worldwide 2026. In the Best News Website or App Relaunch category, Casa Editorial El Tiempo’s New El Tiempo News App received the international/national award, while A Redação’s new website was named the regional/local winner from Brazil. The Indicator project from Canada was recognised as both international and national winner in the Best in Countering Disinformation and Best Emerging News Providers categories, noted for its focus on trust and editorial innovation. UOL+ The Lifestyle Bundle Strategy by UOL in Brazil won the Best Reader Revenue Strategy award. Cheatsheet by The New York Times in the United States received the Best AI-driven News Product award for its integration of artificial intelligence, investigative journalism and data analysis. Unhedged by the Financial Times in the United States was awarded Best Newsletter. In Best in Audience Engagement, Dave Jorgenson Goes Independent by Local News International in the United States and UOL 360° Ecosystem by UOL in Brazil were named winners. UOL Flash: The Social News Feed by UOL in Brazil won Most Innovative Digital Product as the international/national recipient, while Vale Vivo Project by Grupo A Hora in Brazil was recognised as the regional/local winner. In content categories, Benito en PR by El Vocero de Puerto Rico received the regional/local award for Best Use of Video. How women protect Mexico City’s ancient island farms by Mongabay and Associated Press in Mexico won the international/national prize in the same category. The Outlaw Ocean Podcast and CBC Podcasts from the United States shared the Best Use of Audio award. Each initiative demonstrates measurable impact, adaptability and alignment with evolving media challenges. Winners from this edition automatically advance to the Digital Media Awards Worldwide 2026, where they will compete against top projects from other regions for global recognition.
