Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo denounces the carelessness of the Congolese authorities in the face of growing insecurity in the east of the DRC – Democratic Republic of Congo. In his message to Catholic Christians on the occasion of Easter, the head of the Catholic Church of Congo-Kinshasa condemned the political divisions at the root of the insecurity experienced in the eastern part of the DRC.
» Beyond completely useless speeches, the reality is that others continue to advance and occupy the East of our country. It is obvious, for the simple reason, that the Congo has no strength to defend the integrity of its country. An elephant with feet of clay. We talk here like we’re strong. The truth is that Congo has no army. This is very serious for a nation like ours,” he said.
According to Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo, the security situation in the east of the DRC sufficiently proves that the DRC is in agony.
“How do you expect a part of the country which is attacked from the outside, but we at the level of Kinshasa, headquarters of the institutions, we continue to take actions, which do not go in the direction of the consolidation of unity, cohesion. We know very well that our country is in agony, a seriously ill person in a comatose state,” he added.
Fridolin Ambongo finally denounced the voracity of mining companies and invited the population to raise awareness, in order to make the environment healthy.
