A reduction in pension may occur due to an error in calculations, the basis for additional payments has changed, or fraud has been discovered. Honored Lawyer of Russia Ivan Solovyov spoke about this.
“The first and most common reason is that during an audit or additional monitoring an error was discovered when calculating the amount of the pension. The size of the disability pension may be reduced if the citizen does not confirm the diagnosis in time. If a citizen initially presented forged documents, then this may become the basis not only for the return of amounts paid by the state, but also for initiating a criminal case,” Solovyov told the Prime agency.
The lawyer added that the pension may also decrease if the pensioner changes his region of residence. For those who left the northern regions, increasing coefficients are no longer applied when calculating. In the case of a survivor’s pension, its payment stops when the recipient reaches 18 years of age or completes full-time education.
It was previously reported that Russians working in certain government positions and federal civil servants are entitled to a payment of 45% of their salary to the long-service pension. Financial consultant Inna Filatova told a URA.RU correspondent that cosmonauts and pilots, doctors, teachers, fire service workers, employees of tax and federal government services can count on additional payment.
