The oldest known person in the world, the French nun Andre (Sister André) passed away at the age of 118. A spokesperson for the nursing home also confirmed the bad news on the 17th, revealing that she passed away peacefully in her sleep.
“Sister Andrea,” formerly known as Lucile Randon, became the oldest known living person after Japanese Kako Mizutanaka died last year at the age of 119. On February 11, 1904, Langdon was born in an atheist Protestant family, but she converted to Catholicism when she was young, and worked as a tutor, teacher, and missionary before retiring at the age of 75. In 2021, the world was ravaged by the new crown pneumonia (COVID-19). Landon, who lives in the Sainte-Catherine-Laboure nursing home in Toulon (Toulon), was also diagnosed, but eventually survived the recovery and became the oldest survivors of COVID-19.
Although the older Langdon is blind and needs a wheelchair, she is still willing to help others. In the past, she has revealed that it is her concern for others and work that keeps her alive. “People say work kills people. For me, work keeps me alive. I worked until I was 108.” But Langdon declined to provide details. A DNA sample, indicating God only knows the secret of her longevity.
Langdon died in his sleep at the age of 118, nursing home spokesman David Tavella confirmed to AFP.
