The World Health Organization has settled the controversy over reports that monkeypox is biologically manufactured.
Dr. Abdel Nasser Abu Bakr, Director of the Infection Risk Prevention and Preparedness Program at the World Health Organization, said, “There are rumors on communication sites regarding the emergence of monkeypox within the global conflict between Russia and the West, but we do not have any information regarding engineering the virus in laboratories, and it is It has nothing to do with the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.”
This came in his speech during a press conference held by the organization’s regional office to talk regarding the situation of monkeypox and the response to it in the Eastern Mediterranean Region.
He added that “the monkeypox virus was discovered since 1958 and spreads in a number of endemic countries from time to time, as it appeared recently in non-endemic countries, but it has not changed genetically and shows the same characteristics and therefore is no longer genetically or genetically.”
