Monday July 31

Belinda Bencic led 6/5, in the first round, against Anastasia Potapova before the Russian, hit in the ankle, gave up. Liudmila Samsonova nukes local Danielle Collins 6/1 6/3.

Marta Kostyuk stands out, for once, sportingly by beating Bianca Andreescu (CAN) 2/6 6/3 7/6 (5). Lauren Davis upsets compatriot Sloane Stephens 7/6 3/6 6/1.

Big match for Elina Svitolina who dominates with the Viktoria Azarenka (BLR) 7/6 6/4 way. Nice performance also for Daria Kasatkina, winner of Elise Mertens (BEL) 6/3 7/5.

Tuesday, August 1

Jennifer Brady, 28, ranked above the 1000th place in the WTA, remained nearly two years without playing, knee problems, before making her comeback in Future last week, inflicts a real punishment on Anhelina Kalinina (UKR) 6/2 6/1. The former 13th in the world has obviously found a certain level.

Peyton Stearns, one of the great US hopes, wins against Magdalena Frech (POL) 6/1 6/4. Sorana Cirstea, who appreciates this kind of surface, eliminates Petra Martic (CRO) 6/3 7/6 with a decisive game won 15 points to 13.

Madison Keys dominates Qinwen Zheng 7/5 6/1, Leylah Fernandez wins a victory that will do her good against Bernarda Pera (USA) 6/3 7/5. We end with the new defeat of Karolina Pliskova, who has just fired her coach, against the American Hailey Baptiste, 21, WTA 204, 6/1 0/6 6/3.

Wednesday August 2

Continuation of this tournament with the 1/8th finals and two meetings sent very quickly. Belinda Bencic will first sweep Lauren Davis (USA) 6/1 6/4 before seeing Elina Svitolina unsurprisingly blast a Daria Kasatkina always borrowed on hard, 6/2 6/2.

Madison Keys, still solid, puts Jennifer Brady back to work, inflicting a sec 6/4 6/0. Coco Gauff gives a lesson to Hailey Baptiste, beaten 6/1 6/4, just like Liudmila Samsonova who sweeps Sorana Cirstea 6/1 6/3.

Thursday August 3

Caroline Garcia, TDS 2, who had the privilege of starting her tournament in the round of 16, drank the entry cup against Marta Kostyuk. The Ukrainian, who however hasn’t achieved much this year, inflicts a sec 6/2 6/3 on her.

Taking the Habs at her own game, often entering the field, Kostyuk let her rival make tons of unforced errors. A few days before the WTA 1000 in Cincinnati, which she won last season, it is the red alert in a Garcia camp which should, even if we no longer believe in it, think about the famous plan B.

A little later Jessica Pegula is solid and efficient to eliminate her compatriot Peyton Stearns 6/4 6/3.

Friday August 4, the 1/4 finals

Jessica Pegula ???????? vs Elina Svitolina ???????? : 4/6 6/3 6/4

Dominated by the Ukrainian during the first set, Pegula was able to raise her level, very high, to reverse the trend from the start of the second round. Behind Svitolina didn’t give up and all that gave a very good match.

Maria Sakkari ???????? vs Madison Keys ???????? : 6/3 6/3

Superb day for the Greek who leaves Fernandez in 1/8th before ending, as the boss, the course of a Keys (10 successes in her last 12 outings).

Belinda Bencic ???????? vs Coco Gauff ???????? : 1/6 2/6

The Olympic champion simply took a beating by the US nugget

Lyudmila Samsonova ???????? vs Marta Kostyuk ???????? : 6/4 6/2

Defending champion, who arrived here under a lot of pressure, the Russian clearly dominated this meeting.

Saturday August 5, the 1/2 finals

Jessica Pegula ???????? vs Maria Sakkari ???????? : 3/6 6/4 2/6

The Greek player, who worried a lot of people this spring, has just signed her best victory of the year against the world No. 4. Impressive and above all much more consistent than before, Sakkari blew up her rival in a perfect third set.
