Al-Marsad newspaper: Al-Arabiya channel published a report on body beating and torture among Sufis in Iraq.
The correspondent of the “channel” pointed out that: “These schools gather thousands of supporters and followers, and this method is characterized by practices and phenomena, which some call supernatural force of nature, such as striking swords in the body and burning, and beating themselves with firearms.”
Aqil Qassem Hussein, one of the dervishes, said during an interview with Al-Qanat that in the Qadiriyya method, we strike with swords, when there is someone who denies the religion of Islam, and denies the way and what we do of striking swords, has nothing to do with an apparent hand, but is a moral matter presented to the Dervish is a matter of divine power.
He added, Baqi Majid, Darwish, we came to serve the gentlemen here, for they raised us in terms of remembrance, understanding, fasting and sports until we were able to reach this stage.
