Water, a less and less buoyant market for Nestlé

In France, Nestlé Waters continues to cause a stir in Vittel. On Tuesday, the subsidiary of the Vaudois food giant announced the elimination of 171 positions on its Vosges site, or a quarter of its workforce. The measure is mainly motivated by the decision taken last year to stop the sale of Vittel in Germany. Like the rest of the industry, the company is also confronted with the drought which affects the exploitation of water. In early May, Nestlé Waters announced the indefinite suspension of two of the six boreholes dedicated to Hépar water on its Vosges site. On site, the group has been accused for years by local associations of overexploiting groundwater.
