Water, canal, garbage, parking – things are getting more expensive in Vienna

The City of Vienna is increasing the fees for water, sewers, waste disposal and parking ticket prices.

This was announced by City Councilor Peter Hanke (SPÖ) on Thursday. The tariffs for municipal services are being adjusted in Vienna on the basis of the Valorisation Act in force.

Mid-year, it will be checked whether the consumer price index has risen by three percent or more since the last increase – which it has. The adjustment will take effect in early 2023.

Parking will be more expensive

As of June 2022, this has increased by 5.9 percent for water supply, sewage and waste disposal. For the parking meter fee (which was last adjusted in 2020), the value is 12.2 percent.

The parking ticket currently costs 1.10 euros for half an hour. From the beginning of next year you have to pay 1.25 euros for it. 2.50 euros will be charged for one hour.

Higher water and garbage taxes

In addition, the current fee valorization for a sample multi-person household for water supply, sewage and waste disposal means a monthly fee adjustment of around EUR 2.90. For a person who lives alone, the monthly fee adjustment is around 1.30 euros.
