As explained by Vassilis Kikilias after the meeting of the Operations Coordination Center, in Larissa, Thessaly worries the authorities more in view of the worsening weather which is expected in the next few hours, given the devastation suffered by the region since the last severe weather last September.

“We are more concerned about Thessaly, because its field is burdened by the latest disaster” characteristically said the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, after the meeting in view of the dangerous weather phenomena expected to hit the region.
“We’re all here. Once again we have to deal with a phenomenon. It is not of the kind of phenomena we faced a few months ago, but obviously it is happening in a burdened and suffering field”, he said initially and clarified that he will remain in Larissa all night, until tomorrow.
“I asked that we be dispersed throughout the night to monitor by region of Thessaly – and not only, because the phenomena will also be present in central Macedonia, Pieria, Katerini, in Northern Evia, in the Sporades, possibly also in the foot of Halkidiki. Vigilance must be there. It would be good for these evening hours when the meteorologists tell us that we will have this phenomenon at a greater intensity, to limit our movements. It is important that we work and operate, all together,” he added.
For his part, the regional governor Dimitris Kouretas emphasized that “we are ready. What worries us is that Thessaly is already burdened. We are monitoring it and we are on our feet. We will be on alert until the phenomenon ends.”
