Located on the border between Uccle and Forest, near Altitude 100 and Forest National, a plot of land owned by a private owner was cleared in May 2019. In total, fifteen high-stemmed trees of various species were felled in this way, without any request being made to the local authorities competent in the matter. However, under the Brussels Spatial Planning Code (CoBAT), “no one may, without a prior, written and express permit from the college of mayors and aldermen, cut down tall trees”.
In view of the nature of the offence, the area concerned and the fact that the owner is the perpetrator of the offence, the latter is therefore required toan administrative fine of 30,000 euros…
