“We can put it on the waiting list for July”: there is no vaccine against chickenpox in Russia, what does it threaten

Chickenpox vaccine many parents do not do to children – they don’t see the point: the disease is frequent, it gives guaranteed immunity for life. Some even “help” babies get infected by going to “windmill parties.” But there are those who prefer to protect the child from the virus through vaccinations. Approximately such a decision was made by Elena from St. Petersburg.

“They began to say that there are cases of chickenpox in the city, and my daughter is already 5 years old, it is not clear how she will endure, they decided to protect her from the disease,” Elena told “Doctor Peter”.

First of all, the woman called the usual children’s clinic, where earlier it was possible to get vaccinated against chickenpox. But there they explained to her that there was no vaccine and it was not known whether there would be one at all. Then there were calls to large St. Petersburg medical centers that offer vaccination. But there was no drug.

“We can offer to put you on a waiting list for July or August, until we have information when the vaccine will arrive,” the registrars offered.

After several hours of searching, the vaccine was found in one of the network clinics, the girl was registered for vaccination on Saturday, March 11. Mom was assured that the drug would definitely remain. But a day later they called back and warned: the vaccine was over.

“Of course, I’ll still try to call several clinics, maybe there are stocks of the vaccine somewhere, but I don’t count on success,” says Elena.
