Morocco’s national team has the potential to compete with any team, said the president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Fouzi Lekjaa.
The national team have their chances against Spain as they finished first in a group that included world second-placed Belgium and runners-up Croatia, Lekjaa said in an interview granted to the “Medias 24” site.
He noted that “when there is the desire, the mind, when the group lives well (…), I think that all the ingredients are there to go as far as possible”.
Returning to qualification for the round of 16 at the expense of Canada (2-1), Mr. Lekjaa underlined that his feeling was similar to that of all Moroccans, “pride and honor”, noting that “what was also magical , it is the Moroccan public on the spot. The president of the federal body made it known that after the victory and the qualification against Canada, he called on the players to believe in their potential and to have confidence in themselves, considering that “the level of the World Cup, this It’s not the physical or technical preparation, it’s the mind that plays.
“When you step onto the pitch without an inferiority complex, you can compete with anyone,” he noted.
Regarding the physical form of the national elements after the match against Canada, Mr. Lekjaa said that “all this is monitored with the best technologies, the medical staff… Everything that is needed at the best standards”.
