Standard de Liège saw KV Mechelen snatch victory in stoppage time this Sunday at Sclessin during the 25th day of the Jupiler Pro League.

Standard de Liège delivered a good performance during the first 45 minutes of the game, probably their best half since the start of the season. After several chances, Cafaro opened the scoring just before the break. But on returning from the locker room, Mechelen equalized via Mrabti. The Rouches will then have two big chances, but Coucke will make two decisive saves shortly after the hour mark. At the end of the game, Storm will snatch the victory for the visitors.

“We deserved to win this match. A good game on our part with several chances obtained. However, we fell back a little too much in the second period. It’s a disappointment”, confided Mehdi Carcela after the game. “I have the impression that sometimes everything is against us. But, you have to raise your head and think about the next game. It’s also encouraging because we played well and we could have killed the game especially me on the pass by Jackson (Muleka), but I was surprised by the ball. We had to kill this meeting. We are confident for the future, there are still many games left. The rookies are already contributing a lot and are effective (Emond and Cafaro, 2 goals each ). They quickly integrated, especially Mathieu who did not know the D1A before arriving”, underlined the attacking midfielder.
