“We say goodbye to one of the greatest actors of his generation” – 2024-04-19 05:12:52

“The loss of Yannis Fertis, who left us today, spells the end of an entire life dedicated to Art,” said the Minister of Culture, Lina Mendoniinforming regarding the loss of the great actor, who passed away at the age of 86.

“A student of Karolos Koun, Yiannis Fertis successfully competed with the greatest works of the classical and modern repertoire, as well as of ancient drama, giving us unique interpretations that will still be remembered, in the history of the theater, as exemplary. Because there was a performer who made the most of his solid studies, his collaboration with leading theater people and, above all, his unique means of expression to be justly recognized as one of the greatest actors of his generation,” he noted.

He also points out that “his stage presence, modest and at the same time imposing, always raised standards of comparison. Who, of those who were lucky enough to see him on the board, can really forget how he combined his evocative voice with movement and expression, approaching, always in awe, the text? His selective passages from the big and small screen, as well as from the narrative, complete the image of a complete performer, who was fortunate enough to win well-deserved, thanks to his course, his personality and also his unspeakable commitment, without discounts, to Art, the respect of his fellow artists, the admiration and love of the public”.

“We say goodbye to him with gratitude for all he has offered us. I extend my sincere condolences to his wife Marina Psalti, with whom he shared life and art, his family and friends”, he concluded.
