The “We the People” coalition cites the death of Yaya Dillo, the current social crisis with the teachers’ strike and the high cost of living. The announcement was made on Saturday March 16 in front of the press in Ndjamena.

Contacted by RFI, Moussaye Avenir de La Tchiré, one of the spokespersons for the “We the People” coalition, explains: “We believe that holding these next elections in this political-social context is not appropriate. , simply because the assassination of Yaya Dillo is not yet clarified, and the most serious is that the headquarters of his party was completely razed, while this headquarters may have scraps of evidence that can interest the international investigation, accepted by the government. »

“All this means that the political-social climate is tense and we believe that we must return to the negotiating table to redefine the rules of the game, otherwise we are heading towards a more serious crisis which risks setting the clock back for the Republic to zero,” says Moussaye Avenir from La Tchiré.

“The opening of dialogue will therefore make it possible to redefine the rules of the game towards a return to constitutional order and we want this with all our hopes, in the current context,” points out the spokesperson for the opposition coalition.

Schools are not working. Look at the conditions under which companies are going out of business. There is therefore a generalized crisis which may dissatisfy voters who could sanction this vote by abstaining from voting, for example. »
