“We weren’t missing, we were just praying”

09-10-22.-Rosa Edilia García, called by many in La Grita as the “Spiritual Guide”, gave details through a video that circulated through social networks, of the decreed disappearance of 16 people who kept inhabitants of La Grita and a good part of the population of the state of Táchira were in suspense.

“I thank the security agencies, especially the CICPC. I want to clarify that we were not disappeared, we were in a prayer retreat, only praying the rosary, the blood of Christ, asking for mercy for the holy mother church, for the Pope and the health of the sick of humanity.

Those were parts of his words, after a group of officials from the security forces deployed in the search found the whereabouts of the group of people, including 10 adults, five children and one adolescent, on the afternoon of Thursday, September 8 .

Garcia, was wearing a black jacket and cap. She was calm, like the rest of the located people. She is seen accompanied by the members of the scientific police.

She thanked the state governor, the national and regional entities for clarifying the case and all those who in some way cared about them. “God is with us,” shouted one of those present, followed by applause. They apologized for the inconvenience caused.

The group reported as missing in the mountains of the Jáuregui municipality, was found this Thursday by officials of the security forces in the La Negra moor, bordering the states of Táchira with Mérida. They were in full prayer when the security commission arrived.

The 16 people were transferred, in the early hours of this Friday, September 9, to the La Grita CICPC delegation, where the protocol established in this case was complied with. Each of them underwent a medical check-up to determine the physical and even mental health conditions of the moment. Everyone is fine.

For his part, Douglas Rico, director of the Scientific, Penal and Criminalistics Investigations Corps (Cicpc) attributed to the “fake news” the news magnitude that the case acquired and called for responsible use of them, since “anxiety” was created.
