Wedge for urban transformation in Istanbul: They filed 11 suspension cases

Esenler Mayor and IMM AK Party Group Deputy Chairman Mehmet Tevfik Göksu stated that 60 thousand of the 92 thousand 160 residences that should have been transformed in the first place have been transformed in Esenler, and stated that the Chamber of Planners, CHP and IMM filed 11 suspension cases regarding the projects.

Here are the striking evaluations of Tevfik Göksu, who made special statements to Haber7;

Esenler has made great progress on the issue of urban transformation. The world’s largest urban transformation work is going on in Esenler. In Esenler, we had 92 thousand 160 residences that needed to be transformed in the first place, 60 thousand of which were transformed, thank goodness. The remaining transformation continues at a rapid pace.

An awareness has emerged after February 6, and with this awareness, we are launching a new transformation move on 34 islands to our people who say “What will our situation be?” Our goal is to eliminate all structures that may be risky in Esenler.

The problem we encounter in urban transformation is the opportunist approaches of politicians and political reckonings rather than the approach of the people. The Chamber of Planners, CHP and IMM filed 11 suspension cases for our projects. Is the earthquake a risk for Istanbul? Risk. The work to be done to eliminate this risk is to renovate the buildings. Why does the renovation of these buildings bother the CHP, the Planners’ Chamber and the IMM? Because for them, the earthquake is just a communication argument.
