‘Wednesday’ Season 2 to Haunt Netflix Screens in Summer 2025
LOS ANGELES – Get ready to snap your fingers once again, as “Wednesday,” Netflix’s hit series inspired by the addams Family, is slated to return for its second season in the summer of 2025. The streaming giant has announced that the macabre adventures of Wednesday Addams at Nevermore Academy will continue, promising more supernatural mysteries and dark humor.
Following the immense success of the first season in 2022, fans have eagerly awaited the return of Jenna Ortega as the titular character. Season 2 will be split into two parts, with the first installment premiering on Aug. 6, 2025, and the second following on Sept. 3, Netflix said.
Like its predecessor, the second season will consist of eight episodes. The title of the first episode is “Here we Woe Again.”
As wednesday enters a new year at Nevermore, she will face new enemies and challenges that test her detective skills and unique charm, according to an official synopsis. Wednesday must navigate relationships with family, friends and adversaries while solving mysteries.
Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, the creators and showrunners behind “Smallville,” return to helm the series, with Tim Burton (“Beetlejuice”) directing four episodes and also serving as executive producer. Paco Cabezas (“The Umbrella Academy”) and Angela Robinson (“True Blood”) round out the directing team, splitting the remaining episodes.
MGM Television is again producing “Wednesday,” which filmed its second season in Ireland.
Alongside ortega, returning cast members include Catherine zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams, Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair, Joy Sunday as Bianca Barclay, Moosa Mostafa as Eugene Ottinger, Georgie Farmer as Ajax Petropolus, victor dorobantu as Thing and Hunter Doohan as Tyler Galpin.
new additions to the cast include Steve Buscemi (“The Big Lebowski”) as Principal Barry Dort, Billie Piper (“Doctor Who”) as Capri, Thandiwe Newton (“Westworld”), Joanna Lumley (“Absolutely Fabulous”) and an as-yet-unnamed music superstar. Evie Templeton, Owen Painter and Noah Taylor have also been cast in undisclosed roles.The first season of “Wednesday” was a global phenomenon, breaking viewership records for Netflix and becoming one of the streamer’s most popular English-language series of all time. The show also garnered critical acclaim, earning multiple award nominations, including Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Comedy Series and Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Ortega.
