The AUVA trauma center in Vienna, the former UKH-Meidling, is to become a trauma and rehabilitation center. The “Weißer Hof” rehabilitation center could move from Klosterneuburg to the Vienna trauma center for this purpose.
AUVA treats around 60,000 accident victims every year – alone in the Vienna Trauma Center in Meidling, Austria’s largest accident hospital, with a rehabilitation center. According to AUVA, the “medical offer” here is to be “significantly expanded” in the next few years.
Holistic and extra-occupational rehabilitation as well as lifelong aftercare should be offered in one place: from acute care for accident victims including intensive care unit, intensive care and early rehabilitation, inpatient, day clinic and outpatient rehabilitation to lifelong aftercare.
AUVA expands in Vienna
The AUVA trauma center in Vienna, the former UKH-Meidling, is to become a trauma and rehabilitation center. The “Weißer Hof” rehabilitation center could move from Klosterneuburg to the Vienna trauma center for this purpose.
New rehabilitation center in five years
It would be possible for AUVA to merge the existing trauma center and its “Weißer Hof” rehabilitation center at the Meidling site. His move to Vienna has been in the air for a long time. From the workforce it can be heard that the relocation of the “Weißen Hof” to Meidling is planned for 2027.
When asked by the ORF, AUVA said: “AUVA is expected to put its new rehabilitation center at the Meidling site into operation in 2027 and thus open the first integrated trauma and rehabilitation center in Austria. Until then, rehabilitation at the Weisser Hof will continue at the same high quality level as it has been up to now.” The subsequent use of the Weisser Hof rehabilitation center is currently being negotiated.
AUVA is looking for office property
In any case, the relocation of the administrative center of the General Accident Insurance Institution is fixed. An office property is currently being sought by means of a public tender. The old locations in Brigittenau had been abandoned.
AUVA is currently renting the Twin Towers on Wienerberg. The main office of AUVA and the regional office in Vienna are to work under one roof at the new location that is being sought. The trauma center in Meidling should not be more than 1.5 kilometers away as the crow flies.
