GOREY, Ireland – In a bold move to redefine fitness, Catherina Byrne has launched Time 4 Fitness, a studio dedicated to fostering a supportive environment where individuals can confidently pursue their wellness goals. Byrne’s journey from the hotel industry to fitness entrepreneurship highlights a growing demand for personalized and accessible fitness guidance.
From Hospitality to Health: A Passion Ignited
After 18 years in the hotel industry, Byrne transitioned to health and fitness, driven by a desire to bridge the gap in gym member support. “I was always into the gym and I used to play camogie as well. One thing I always noticed in hotels is that people were paying for gym memberships but there was no one to guide them on how to do the correct form and range of motion or how the exercise would benefit them,” Byrne explained.
the COVID-19 pandemic further fueled her passion. Investing in a home gym, Byrne discovered the benefits of weight training, particularly for women. “I discovered that weights are really good for women and men especially as we get older. If you get into lifting weights, it creates muscles on your body wich helps burn calories and increase your metabolism which makes you slimmer.” This revelation prompted her to pursue formal training to share this knowledge with others. As a personal trainer, Byrne is dedicated to dispelling myths surrounding weightlifting and promoting its benefits for all ages. studies show that resistance training not only builds muscle mass but also improves bone density and metabolic health [1].
Time 4 Fitness: A New Chapter Begins
Byrne officially opened Time 4 Fitness at Gorey Rangers Football Club in early October 2024, later relocating to a larger space at Unit 5 in Gorey Business Park in late January. This transition marked a significant step in realizing her vision of an inclusive fitness community.
A Judgement-free Zone
“I opened my own studio to let people come in and not be afraid of lifting weights or be intimidated. My big goal for everyone coming in the door here is that the judgement is left outside. Whatever weight you can lift, that’s where we’ll start you from and you will grow,” Byrne emphasized. this beliefs creates a welcoming atmosphere for beginners and seasoned athletes alike.
Expert trainers recognize the importance of creating an inclusive environment. According to the american Psychological Association,a supportive community is vital for maintaining consistent exercise habits and achieving long-term fitness goals [2].
Deep Stretch: Recovery and Rehabilitation
Byrne’s personal experience with a back injury inspired her to study Deep Stretch, which she now offers at Time 4 Fitness. “It’s similar to yoga but it’s much quicker and it really strengthens your muscles. One woman came in and she could barely walk because of her back but if you look at her now, she can’t believe herself. She thought she was going to end up in a wheelchair. Now she comes into me and stands tall and we do a one-on-one deep stretch every Saturday,” she shared.
Deep stretch classes focus on improving versatility, reducing muscle tension, and promoting overall well-being.Regular stretching can also aid in injury prevention and enhance athletic performance. Research from the Mayo Clinic highlights the benefits of stretching for improving posture, balance, and range of motion [3].
Building Confidence Through Fitness
Tom Courtney, Byrne’s partner, brings a wealth of experience to Time 4 Fitness with certifications in personal training and football coaching. Together, they offer both group classes and personalized training sessions.
“Some women come to me and they’re very nervous. They come to me and say, ‘I haven’t a clue’. I say, firstly don’t be nervous, I was exactly like you at one point. I’m a very comforting and caring person which is an asset in this industry. The training I do builds peoples confidence, not just through losing weight or getting stronger but it makes them more confident in themselves,” Byrne stated. The focus on building confidence and self-esteem sets Time 4 Fitness apart from customary gyms.
The studio’s Eircode is Y25T0V1.

Catherina Byrne: Deep Stretch is similar to yoga but more focused. It’s quicker and targets specific muscle groups to improve adaptability, reduce tension, and aid recovery. I’ve seen amazing results with clients, like one woman who thought she might need a wheelchair due to back pain – now she stands tall and enjoys our weekly sessions. it’s truly rewarding.
