A Bitcoin whale address that has been dormant for over nine years has moved 2,071.5 BTC (60.7 million) out today.
The newly mentioned address received 6,071.5 bitcoins on December 19, 2013. When the price of one bitcoin was only $663.
While the reason for this move is unknown. Some are speculating that many longtime crypto users are moving old funds to new wallets amid what appears to be a large (and mysterious) hack of old wallets.
Although the source of the exploitation remains unknown, common denominators have been identified. Such as hacked keys generated between 2014 and 2022 and targets.
The price has fallen by about 5% in the last 24 hours. The market leading cryptocurrency is trading below $29,000 as of press time.
