Every year on March 14, Ukrainian Volunteer Day is celebrated in Ukraine. The commemorative date was established by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine in 2017 to honor the courage and heroism of the defenders of the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of our state.

The date of March 14 was not chosen by chance. It was on this day in 2014 that the first 500 volunteer fighters of the Maidan Self-Defense left Maidan Nezalezhnosti for the training base in Novy Petrivtsi to form the first volunteer battalion. People organized themselves and went to the east of Ukraine – to protect our state and its sovereignty.

Today, Ukraine is experiencing the biggest test in its recent history – a full-scale war with the Russian aggressor for independence and territorial integrity. And always, in the most difficult times of our history, there are brave people who voluntarily take up arms and defend their Motherland.
