A reader sent us this article and we decided to publish it, it is very interesting.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of electric vehicles?

-The advantages are ecological and operating economy… It costs much less to charge the battery than to fill the deposit!!…, low noise, tax exemptions…etc. Little maintenance…

-The disadvantages: Lack of public chargers, slow charging in a home charger, very expensive vehicle, short battery life, lack of reliable recovery and recycling plans, batteries that BURN under certain conditions…!! (cars, scooters…!!) and as always little autonomy.

There are some with autonomy, but at prohibitive prices…!! And on top of that you neglect and Arden!! That is what there is today…Day.!!

What is the future? -Well, they say that next year SULFUR Batteries will be available…

Of sulfur? Yes, and with a price three times cheaper, that is, they can have twice the autonomy, THEY DO NOT BURN, (Today they are used in Military drones… if they are shot they continue to work!!…) And the best thing is sulfur is very cheap and plentiful…!!

They will cost 30% of the current ones, they charge just as fast, and they can last 10 or 15 years! between 4000 and 8000 cycles,… (it is a technology that can still be improved…!!)

“Lithium-sulfur (Li-S) batteries can theoretically reach energy densities of up to 2,600 Wh/kg, which makes them one of the main alternatives to traditional lithium-ion batteries.

Its chemistry is attractive to industry, since the cathode active material, sulfur, is abundant in nature. Its use allows controlling production costs as well as making them more sustainable.

The first lithium-sulfur batteries did not work well. Unlike lithium ion cells, the chemical reaction that occurs inside leads to the accumulation of solid lithium sulfide and lithium polysulfide that dissolve in the electrolyte, which directly translates into corrosion of the lithium anode. .

This polysulfide transport effect negatively affects battery life. It reduces the number of times the battery can be recharged and therefore results in a very limited lifespan. This drawback is the most significant barrier to the commercialization of Li-S batteries.”

“Theion and its lithium sulfur batteries up the ante to 1,500 km per charge”

They are Made in Germany…By Theion…

“Theion’s ambitions are not limited to road vehicles, moreover, it is not their priority option. This year they say they will have the first prototypes of batteries for aerospace applications, in 2023 for flying devices, mobile phones and “wearable” devices, and already in 2024 for automotive and small aircraft flight.”…

Its current production capacity is a few kWh, on a laboratory scale.

Next year they expect to have a production line of the order of megawatts (MWh), in 2025 already of the order of GWh, and in 2027 -beware of the data- “XL scale” production. Up to three times the autonomy compared to the cells currently available commercially, understanding that they refer to NMC, and for much less cost…

Not only Germany, the USA, Australia and China are investigating the same thing…!!…

Now…Assuming that everything runs fine…!! Where is the energy to be able to charge millions of cars and electric motorcycles in a suitable time?…

Well, in the minds of some politicians. Most without a minimum of knowledge.
