What are the Clausura Tournament matches that will be played during Holy Week?

The Clausura 2024 Tournament does not stop at Easter. Learn about the matchups of matchday 13 of the Guatemalan soccer championship.

Activity in the 2024 Clausura Tournament of Guatemalan soccer will continue this Holy Week. After an atypical day between March 23 and 24, where not all the games were played due to the international participation of the Guatemalan National Team, all the teams return to action to give continuity to the local championship that is already close to define their qualifiers for the final phase.

Although many will be off, the week will be full of football since there will be up to three days of activity.

The teams that open the curtain will be Achuapa and Xinabajul Huehue with their duel at the Winston Pineda stadium at 3:00 p.m. on March 27. Then it will be the turn of Antigua GFC and Comunicaciones FC.

The colonial team will receive the Albo team at 8 p.m. at the Pensativo stadium in Antigua Guatemala. Antigua is the current leader of the general table with 25 pointsIf he wins, he will increase his advantage over the second place (Cobán Imperial) to four units. Communications, for its part, arrives at the duel with two games pending and in fourth position. A victory would move him up to third position and with a match still pending he could even aspire to first place.

On March 28 the action will continue: first with the Zacapa vs Xelajú MC, then with Municipal vs Cobán Imperial, Achuapa vs Xinabajul will follow and Guastatoya vs Coatepeque will close.

The duel between Zacapa and Xelajú is of vital importance in the issue of relegation, since the eastern team is obliged to win in order to dream of saving the category, while Xelajú MC also sees the need to leave with the three points of his visit to the David Ordóñez Bardales stadium so as not to compromise his stay in the Major League. The meeting is scheduled at 11 a.m.

At 2 p.m. the Manuel Felipe Carrera “El Trébol” stadium will host a high-caliber clash between CSD Municipal (sixth with 16 points) and Cobán Imperial (second with 24 points). Depending on the result of the duel between Antigua and Comunicaciones, Cobán could even aspire to keep the lead if he defeats the scarlet ones. The council team, for its part, will want to achieve as many points as possible before facing its rival Comunicaciones on April 17.

Almost two hours later it will be Guastatoya’s turn to face an already relegated Deportivo Coatepeque.

The action of matchday 13 of Clausura 2024 will end on Saturday, March 30 when Deportivo Mixco faces at the Santo Domingo stadium at 4 p.m. against Deportivo Malacateco.
