What are the exceptions to the Day without a Car and without a Motorcycle in Bogotá?

This Thursday, September 22, the day without a car and without a motorcycle will be held in Bogotá. 5:00 a.m. a 9:00 p.m., after two years of suspension due to the pandemic.

The Mayor’s Office of Bogotá issued the Decree 388 of September 19, 2022, with which it informs of the different measures that will be adopted on the Day without a Car and without a Motorcycle. According to the document, within the exceptions that were included, with the purpose of promoting sustainable mobility, are vehicles and motorcycles powered by electric motors.

In addition, the document clarifies that hybrid vehicles will not be included in the list of exceptions.

The exceptions for the Day without a Car and without a Motorcycle, in accordance with Decree 388, are the following:

  • vehicles and motorcycles driven by people with disabilities or for their transportation.
  • Emergency vehicles.
  • School bus.
  • Transport vehicles with the capacity to mobilize more than 10 passengers.
  • Vehicles and motorcycles of home public service transportation companies.
  • Surveillance motorcycles and private security.
  • Hearses.
  • Motorcycles that provide the courier and/or home service.
  • Vehicles for transporting valuables.
  • Public transportation.
  • Vehicles and motorcycles for traffic control and cranes that provide the service to the District Secretary of Mobility.
  • Presidential motorcade.
  • Military vehicles and motorcycles, National Police and State Security Organizations.
  • Diplomatic or consular service vehicles and motorcycles.
  • Transportation assigned by the National Protection Unit to people who have protection measures.
  • Vehicles and motorcycles intended for the operational control and maintenance of the Integrated Public Transport System.
  • Transport for the control of emissions and discharges.
  • Vehicles and motorcycles powered by electric motors.
