What are the most used brands around the world?

Samsung, Apple, Huawei and Xiaomi are among the largest smartphone manufacturers in the world, with a combined market share of over 50%. Although these marks are nowadays bought and used all over the world, they have retained certain national advantages.

Apple is thus the most used brand in North America (United States and Canada), Samsung retains a massive market share in South Korea, while Xiaomi and Huawei are favored by 43% of Chinese.

66% of South Koreans surveyed Consumer Insights from Statista said their primary smartphone was a Samsung, the highest rate in the study.

Germany, Brazil and South Africa are other markets that are doing well for the Korean manufacturer, with 37-43% of people in these two countries owning a Samsung as their primary device.

In France, the Korean company is slightly ahead of the Apple firm: 35% of French people have opted for Apple and 32% for Samsung, against 11% and 8% respectively for Xiaomi and Huawei.

The markets of Spain, Mexico and India are among the most heterogeneous. As our graph highlights, none of the four major brands selected reaches more than a quarter of the population.

While these four brands are used by more than 80% of Spaniards, they only reach 55% of Indians. Apart from Samsung, Apple, Huawei and Xiaomi, the indian smartphone market remains very fragmented. Vivo, OPPO, OnePlus and Realme brands are each used by 7-10% of Indians surveyed.
