What does the Belgrano women need to qualify for the 2023 Federal Cup?

Although the third edition of the women’s Federal Cup does not yet have a start date, the AFA has already established what the classification of professional soccer teams will be like.

As stipulated in the last published bulletin, the teams that at the end of the fifth date of the second tournament, are located from 1st to 8th place in the General Table of Positions will be the ones that qualify for the Federal Cup.

The General Table of Positions is made up of the points that they added in the 2023 Women’s Championship plus the points that add up in the position table of the “Second Tournament” to be played after the World Cup stoppage.

Belgrano finished the first half in 9th place, with 28 units, one less than San Lorenzo, which today would be the last team to enter. The Pirates, who will integrate Zone A of the next tournament, will have five games to add and get into the eight.

They will have two direct rivals in that fight, Independiente (30pts) and San Lorenzo (28pts), who share the area and could deduct points from them if they come across each other in the first five rounds.

Let’s remember that Belgrano was a finalist in the last edition, forming part of the teams that came from the interior. This year, Truckers will be the representative of the Cordoba League and will seek to reach the instance of crosses.

What the AFA Bulletin says

CLASSIFICATION TO THE 2023 FEDERAL FOOTBALL CUP 11.1. Those teams that at the end of the 5th will qualify for the Reference Cup. date of the “Second Tournament” 2023 of Women’s Soccer of First Division “A” are located from 1st to 8th place in the General Table of Positions, made for this purpose, which will result from the sum of the points obtained by the clubs in the Final Table of Positions of the “First Tournament” 2023, plus those other points that the clubs achieve in the first five (5) dates of the aforementioned “Second Tournament” 2023. 11.2. In the case of a tie in points in any of the positions of the aforementioned General table (Item 11.1), which determine qualifying positions for the 2023 Federal Women’s Soccer Cup, the provisions of art. 112 of the AFA General Regulations in sections 1), 2) and 3). In case of subsisting any equality that determines classification, the definition will be resolved through a draw to be carried out opportunely by the AFA Tournament Management
