What happens if you drink coffee before bed?

Coffee is one of the most consumed beverages by Colombians. Even many people in different parts of the world highlight the flavor of this food when it is grown in tricolor soil because it is very rich.

However, although many individuals think that coffee is Colombian, this is not the case, since it has its origins in the African country of Ethiopia, in the province of Kaffa. The great history of this food, cultivated in many places today, dates back to the 9th century.

One of the main benefits of coffee is to wake up the body. Like all food, it should be consumed in moderate quantities and without sugar. Some people add milk simply for the fun of it.

Among its benefits, “caffeine is a natural metabolism accelerator. In fact, it is present in almost all fat burners available on the market. Its advantage is that it is one of the few natural substances that helps burn fat. This occurs because caffeine increases adrenaline levels in the body, releasing fatty acids directly from fatty tissues,” explains the website. Rentokil.

This food is so versatile that it can be prepared in different ways. In general, it is usually consumed in the morning, at breakfast time. Also, its intake is very popular right after lunch.

Although many benefits of this drink have been shown when taken in moderation, a huge myth has been created when it is taken at night or just before bed. Many people consider that the drink does not let you fall asleep.

However, “many studies have ended up indicating just the opposite: that having a cup of coffee just before bed does not affect sleep and, instead, increases your energy level when you wake up”review the digital platform Magnet.

Health Mapfre recommends some alternatives to coffee.

1. Teas. Teas are an alternative with less caffeine content than coffee, offering variety in choices to accompany breakfasts and more. Among the most common types of tea are black tea, green tea, red tea and white tea.

2. Fermented milk. “Milk does not always have to be accompanied by coffee, tea or chocolate, since it alone can be a good option both for breakfast and mid-morning or to end a meal, or especially a dinner. Another possibility is fermented milk, of course drinkable yogurt and also kefir”.

3. Alternative vegetable drinks to milk. Almond, hazelnut, coconut, soy, rice and oat drinks are a good alternative to consider. They should go, if possible, without sugar so as not to affect the body.

4. Fruits. “With the fruit we know that the best option is to take it in its natural form, but when making a drink, it is better to crush it than to make smoothies or juices, since crushed we take advantage of the whole piece. So, we can make shakes or slushies with a very good flavor, appetizing, refreshing and colourful”he concludes.

It is vitally important to mention that, like coffee and other foods, its consumption should be moderate and preferably authorized by a health professional according to the conditions of each individual.
