What is AirTags Precise Search?

Os AirTags and other accessories compatible with the app’s network Look for (Find My) allow you to track your personal objects in a very simple and fast way, directly through the application of the same name, which is available for iPhones, iPads, Macs and Apple Watches.

One of AirTag’s exclusive functions, however, is the call Precise Search (Precision Finding)which makes it possible, as the name itself makes clear, to find what you are looking for in an even better way (and with more chances of success in less time).

Check out how it works! ????

What is Precise Search?

Precise Search uses the chip U1 ultra-wideband capabilities of AirTag and compatible iPhones (more on that below) to help you find your objects — as long as the tracker is nearby (in the chip’s range, to be precise).

When you tap “Search Nearby” in the Search for iPhone app item, you will see real-time instructions for finding the object where the AirTag is connected. The cool thing is that as you get closer, the haptic feedback on the iPhone gets stronger.

What do I need to use Precise Search?

In addition to the AirTag itself, you will also need an iPhone equipped with the U1 chip, i.e.:

  • iPhones 11, 11 Pro e 11 Pro Max
  • iPhones 12 mini, 12, 12 Pro e 12 Pro Max
  • iPhones 13 mini, 13, 13 Pro e 13 Pro Max
  • iPhones 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro e 14 Pro Max

How to use Precise Search?

With the iPhone and the AirTag nearby (10m away or less), open the Find My iPhone app and tap the “Items” tab. Then select the AirTag name you added earlier and select “Search Nearby”. Then follow the instructions shown on the screen to find the object.
