The chief infectious disease specialist of the region said that the coronavirus has now faded into the background. Among the sick, severe cases are very rare.
– Coronavirus infection is on the decline, but if you look at the full landscape, now there are more mild forms among the sick. There are very few who are seriously ill. These are mainly elderly people with various severe pathologies. Coronavirus infection has moved into outpatient practice,” explained Larisa Pozdnyakova.
In the past two years, the coronavirus simply squeezed out the flu, so this disease was not recorded.
“According to the laws of the pandemic, the coronavirus squeezed out everything else. Took a leading position. And in the last two years we have not registered a single case of influenza. The coronavirus has been more aggressive and severe and has crowded out everyone else. When the coronavirus infection began to decline, we see the usual, so far just increased, not an epidemic, but a seasonal incidence, the specialist added.
