On Thursday (15th), Petrobras (PETR3;PETR4) announced a new reduction in the price of gasoline for distributors, which will be valid from next Friday (16th). The state-owned company plans to reduce its average gasoline A price by R$ 0.13 per liter, which will now be R$ 2.66 per liter, a drop of 4.66%.
Taking into account the mandatory blend of 73% A gasoline and 27% anhydrous ethanol for the composition sold at service stations, Petrobras’ share in the consumer price will be R$ 1.94 for each liter sold at the pump, on average.
The average price to the final consumer could reach R$ 5.33 per liter, according to the company. This depends on the maintenance of the installments referring to the other agents according to the ANP price survey for the period from June 4th to 10th. The state-owned company recalled: “It should be noted that the amount effectively charged to the final consumer at the gas station is also affected by other factors such as taxes, blend of biofuels and profit margins from distribution and resale”.
In addition, Petrobras stated that the price reduction is to maintain the company’s price competitiveness in relation to its customers’ main supply alternatives, valuing market share and optimization of refining assets, in a balanced way with other markets, both nationally and internationally.
“Aware of the importance of its products to Brazilian society, the company emphasizes that when setting its prices, it seeks to avoid passing on the volatility of the international market and the exchange rate, while preserving a healthy competitive environment under the terms of current legislation. ”, he added.
It is worth remembering that this is the second change in gasoline prices since Petrobras opted for the end of the import parity policy (PPI).
