A new line is appearing this month on the pay slip of the French. Next to the net salary is now the “social net amount”. But what does this mean and what is this new indication for? Europe 1 takes stock.

You probably received your payslip at the end of June and you may have noticed this new line that appears at the very bottom next to the net salary. It is written “social net amount”. An additional indication which aims to facilitate applications for social assistance for recipients.

Enabling eligible households to benefit from state aid

First important clarification: it is not a direct debit. If you receive social assistance, this new line will allow you to quickly know the precise amount to send to the CIF. An amount which corresponds to the net income once the compulsory social contributions have been deducted. A common reference for all employees, regardless of your status, branch or company.

As the Ministry of Labor specifies, this means the end of calculations and potential errors. A simplification far from being useless since, according to state statistics, a third of households eligible for RSA and the activity bonus do not ask for them. This is a first step towards the solidarity at source desired by the government after the withholding at source for taxes, since in January 2024, this net social amount will have to be communicated directly by employers to the family allowance funds.
