The fight the father-in-law had with his son-in-law at their house in Agia Varvara turned into a tragedy. In fact, the 69-year-old grandfather murdered his daughter’s husband in front of his grandson.
The victim’s sister spoke to newsit.gr saying that the 57-year-old was a good person, he was fine with his wife and took care of his children.

“My brother was a very good man. I don’t know if they had problems and it came as a surprise to me. He was fine with his wife, he took care of his children, he was very good. He was always kind,” she said.
A friend of the 57-year-old also spoke to newsit.gr, stressing that he does not know the reasons for the murder. “He was a human being!” He was honestly one of the best guys I’ve ever met, I’m honored to have met him! And his wife Angeliki was an excellent lady and mother. I can’t believe someone takes a life like that and leaves 3 children without their father. Unfortunately I don’t know anything else about the reasons that led the grandfather to do something so horrific and unjust.”
Someone was shouting “what have you done”
On the other hand, the neighbor’s testimony states that the murder must have taken place in front of the 57-year-old’s child. As he reports, he heard two shots and everything happened when the 57-year-old doctor was returning home with his child.
“There was something like a skirmish and then a shot. We went outside because it was quiet and a second shot was heard before we realized what was happening. Someone was shouting “what did you do…” Then the father-in-law came down with a rifle in his hand, his wife was behind to stop him and was shouting “I’m a young man and I’m going to surrender”. Then the police came… We didn’t know why it happened, every house has its own. The child must have been in front. The father was returning with the child. They were normal people, they obviously had problems that we didn’t know about. They were good people, at least the couple, the victim and his wife”, he characteristically said speaking to newsit.gr.
The chronicle of the tragedy
It all happened in Agia Varvara on Filikis Etaireias street, around 7:15 on Saturday afternoon (24.02.2024) with the 69-year-old shooting his daughter’s 57-year-old husband.
The son of the assailant notified the police – and he is a police officer himself – and according to information, when the police arrived the assailant was walking around with a rifle in his hand.
The 69-year-old’s daughter, who had gone to Sparta to her place of origin, was immediately notified.
According to information, the victim asked his wife’s brother to look after one of the two children because he had to go to work with the other.
When the perpetrator was informed of this, he set up a cartel on the victim and with two shots with a carbine took his life on the sidewalk in front of their house.
