What to do if your Apple Watch asks for a passcode even when it’s on your wrist?

O Apple Watch It is the best-selling watch in the world. Precisely because it is on the wrists of so many people around the world, it has become essential for checking notifications, tracking exercise metrics or even just checking the current time. ????

If you use it and have come across situations in which the watch simply locks itself even when it is on your wrist — that is, it asks you to re-enter the unlock code —, be aware that some situations or incorrect use of it can be causing this.

See how to fix it! ⌚️

  • Make sure the watch is lying flat on your wrist. According to Apple recommends, it can be neither too loose nor too tight. If it is too loose, this can cause the Apple Watch to lock itself.
  • Try to frequently clean the sensors located on the bottom of the watch.
  • Try deactivating your Apple Watch passcode. Remember, however, that this will leave you more vulnerable and certain features like Apple Pay will not be able to be used. For that:
    • On your iPhone, open the Watch app, tap “Passcode” and “Disable Passcode”.
    • On the Watch, open Settings, select “Passcode” and “Disable Passcode”. Then confirm again. Also make sure “Arm Detection” is turned on.
  • Make sure your Apple Watch is on a wrist where there isn’t a very dense tattoo in contact with the back sensors. If the entire area below the sensors is covered by a tattoo, they may not work properly.
  • If the problem persists, reset your Apple Watch. To do this, open the Watch app on your iPhone, select “All Watches” (in the top left corner), then the “i” next to the watch and go to “Unpair Apple Watch”. Then follow the next steps to complete the process and pair it again.

If none of this helps, it might be a good idea to reach out to Apple. This can be done by calling 0800-761-0880, from the site or through the Support app.

You can also schedule an appointment at one of two Apple Stores located in Brazil or an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
