The last episode of The Last of Us shocked most of the audience that knew the franchise after the premiere of the adaptation made by HBO, and now many people may be wondering what will happen in the series going forward. In the sixth episode of the series, we saw Joel reuniting with his brother Tommy in a scene full of emotion, after the man arrives in Jackson, a small town that resists the apocalypse, accompanied by Ellie. The reunion between the brothers did not take long to gain a more dramatic tone, with Joel asking the youngest to take Ellie to Fireflies.
However, after an impactful conversation with the girl, Joel realized that this was a journey that must end, as his destiny and the girl’s are already intertwined. The episode then shows how much the relationship between Joel and Ellie has evolved, making it clear that both already see themselves as father and daughter. However, as in The Last of Us happiness does not seem to last long, the sixth episode ended with Joel erased after being seriously injured by an enemy, leaving the question: is Joel dead?
What will happen in episode 7 of The Last of Us?
The answer is straightforward. No, Joel is not dead. As in the game, the series should show Ellie surviving on her own while taking care of the man, in a period in which he is close to death due to the wound. However, next Sunday’s episode of The Last of Us will still have other events to show.
While in the game the scene in which Joel is injured is already followed by the moment in which Ellie becomes a playable character and the plot focuses on her survival on her own, the series will have an episode to adapt the events of the DLC Left Behind, which was released sometime after the original game.
Therefore, in the next episode of The Last of Us we will see more about Ellie’s past, including events that were not shown in the franchise’s games, while we know more about the girl’s history.
