WhatsApp will allow you to create polls in groups

WhatsApp has taken the liberty of “borrowing” one of the most useful functions found in its rival, Telegram.

This is the possibility of creating surveys directly in the application, without the need for third-party apps, a function that can greatly facilitate user interaction within groups. According to the specialized portal WABetaInfoWhatsApp is already working on the development of this new function, as it can be seen in the code of beta 2.22.6.70.

While the feature isn’t currently available even to users who are part of the WhatsApp beta program, the image posted by the source site gives us an overview of how it will work. Basically it will be like in Telegram, that is, you can create a question and different options will be given so that the members of the group vote for the one they prefer.

At the moment it is unknown how many possible response options WhatsApp will allow to add and if not only the group administrators will be able to create surveys, but any user that is part of it.

What we do know is that the survey information will be encrypted, including the responses. This means that only the members of the group will know what each user has voted for, although there may be the possibility of sharing the voting results to other chats.

This function could arrive in future updates of the messaging app along with others that we expect such as the ability to react to messages in the same way that we do it in other services such as Instagram, Twitter, iMessage, Slack or Microsoft Teams.
