Whatsapp will no longer work on multiple iPhones

From October 24, it will therefore no longer be possible to use WhatsApp on the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5c according to the WABetaInfo site. WhatsApp Messenger will stop supporting iOS 10 and iOS 11, requiring all users to be running at least iOS 12.

The iPhone 5 and iPhone 5c, released about ten years ago, will no longer benefit from WhatsApp updates. Both of these smartphones are too old to update to iOS 12. The app will continue to work on iOS 12 and later operating system.

The fact of no longer having access to these updates makes the application unusable, in particular for security issues. if you need the WhatsApp application, you must update or buy a new smartphone if your iPhone is not compatible with iOS 12. The end of compatibility is justified by the cost deemed too high by the developers of also knowing that the number of users holding such old smartphones is now very limited.

If you have these models, you still have time to take the hit, because the end of support will be operational on October 24, 2022, i.e. in 5 months. Since the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5c are now almost ten-year-old models, chances are this decision won’t affect a lot of people.
