The State Duma threatened to review the activities of WhatsApp in Russia. This is due to the recent addition of the ability to create channels in the messenger, said First Deputy Head of the Duma Committee on Information Policy Anton Gorelkin.
“I have already spoken out regarding WhatsApp channels. If the product of the extremist company Meta begins to expand its functionality towards mass dissemination of information, the official position regarding its activities on the territory of the Russian Federation may be revised,” – wrote Anton Gorelkin on his Telegram.
Earlier, the WhatsApp website reported that users will be able to create channels in the application. At the same time, it was clarified that the communities to which a person subscribes will not be visible to other subscribers, reports TV channel 360.
