When can you add salt to cook?

Follow-up – Samah Ismail

Every food needs a little salt to make it taste better, but have you ever thought regarding adding salt, here is the information for you:

1- Meat and chicken

Whether you’re preparing a steak or a stew, add the salt first. Meat cells close when heated and form an insulating layer on their surface, so they cannot properly absorb salt.

2- Soup

The salt dissolves easily in water and soups, so you can add it at any time.

3- Rice and pasta

When cooking pasta or rice, add salt while the water is boiling, not at the beginning. The starch needs a little salt for flavour, and only absorbs salt when it boils. If you add it later, you won’t get the same result.

4- Cereals

Soak the beans in brine for the most delicious flavour. If you want to add salt during cooking, add it at the beginning or at the end of the boil. If salt is added during cooking, the beans will become hard and dry.
