Everything is ready for a new chapter to be written in the history of the greatest rivalry in Guatemalan soccer. Comunicaciones FC and CSD Municipal will face each other on the field of the Cementos Progreso stadium in the 328th edition of the national classic.
This is a duel that has been highly anticipated by both fans since it will be vital in the teams’ aspirations to finish at the top of the Clausura 2024 table.
On the one hand, Comunicaciones FC, led by Argentine coach Iván Franco Sopegno, will play its second game of the season at Cementos Progreso with the regret of having been defeated by Deportivo Mixco on said field.
Iván Sopegno referred in the preview of the duel and mentioned that he knows the problems his team has recently gone through, but he knows that playing against Municipal is the opportunity to “wash his face.”

With only two rounds left to play, this duel is vital to determine what the table will be like for the final phase of the tournament. Municipal is second with 28 points (four behind the leader Antigua) and Comunicaciones is fifth with 22 points.

The duel that will mark a new chapter in the history of the rivalry of the two most winning teams in Guatemalan football will be played Wednesday, April 17 at 8 p.m. at the Cementos Progreso stadium in zone 6 of Guatemala City.
Why it will be played at the Cementos Progreso Stadium
For many years Comunicaciones played at home at the Doroteo Guamuch Flores stadium, however, it was in the current Clausura 2024 Tournament that the albo team made the decision to use the Cementos Progreso stadium again for its home games.
La Pedrera, as this sports venue is also known, underwent remodeling work that turned it into one of the best fields for playing soccer in Guatemala and as a result of that, the cream board will be playing in zone 6 of the City of Guatemala.
This will be the second game for Comunicaciones at Cementos Progreso in Clausura 2024, previously they played against Mixco and lost 0-1.

The classic against Municipal looks like the opportunity that Communications needs to vindicate itself before its fans since the white team accumulates three defeats and a draw in its last four games played.
