The federal government has recognized the energy costs as the cause of what Chancellor Nehammer puts it – “stubborn” inflation. In turn, she wants to at least make the food price increases more transparent by regularly publishing a selection of prices. Neither will help a large group of people in Austria: those around one and a half million people who live below the poverty line. This is currently at an income of 1392 euros net per month.
