Lohit Das is the screenwriter of Mohanlal’s best movies of all time. Mohanlal’s character in Bharatham, written by Lohitdas, is also a great role. But Bharatham’s script was written by Lohitadas under special circumstances. Bharatham was written in the context of knowing that another Malayalam film with Mohanlal in the lead, which is very similar to the story that Lohit Das had in mind, was getting ready for release.
Lohitadas wrote the story of a father and son who are like friends, with Nedumudi Venu and Mohanlal in mind. Filming was going to start after the pooja. Co-director Joss Thomas says that he recently worked for a movie called Ur Pinklikatha and its theme is the same. Producer Mohanlal told Lohitadas and director CB Malayil that it doesn’t matter, we can think of another story for the film.

Despite being a hastily written story, the film became a huge hit with Mohanlal winning Best Actor, Yesudas Best Singer Nationally and Ravindran Mash receiving a Special Jury Mention.
But Lohitadas did not abandon the story he thought for Mohanlal. Again, the movie ‘Khala Bhekaryaman’ was adapted from that old story that had been conceived for Mohanlal.
