“Where is my cycle” releases women’s voices on side effects

Delay, absence, or resumption of periods, continuous menstruation… “I no longer recognize my body”: the testimonies of post-covid vaccination side effects on the cycle of women are multiplying. From a taboo for many in normal times, we swung into official denial: Mélodie, who was a victim after her vaccination, realized by talking about it around her that she was far from alone. … But that few were those who approached the subject spontaneously.

Two months ago, she launched a instagram account, which lists and publishes testimonials: 231 relayed to date, and hundreds of others received. In addition to making public an invisible or neglected subject, it serves as a space for sharing and solidarity between women. The network responds to their need to confide their misadventures – from unpleasantness to real drama – and their worries – the potential effects on fertility being very distressing.

Benevolence and mutual aid are required, and these testimonies together now lead to a collective – “Where is my cycle?” whom Mélodie calls to join.

A simple initiative on a major subject, which she tells us about on this day when – the chance of a filming schedule doing things well – the spotlight is particularly focused on women.

Mélodie thus hopes to break the quasi-silence of the media and the medical profession who, all in their paradigm of an “effective and safe” vaccine, have denied – or minimized – the problems encountered by many women. A case that calls into question, once again, the risk-benefit of this mass vaccination. Is this famous ratio still convincing, when even “mild” post-vaccination inconveniences are greater (by their intensity or their duration) than those of the disease? And what about all the more serious, sometimes long-lasting ones identified by healthy young women? Mélodie’s approach forces us to tackle these disturbing questions head-on, which cannot be reduced to “women’s questions” and concern society as a whole.
