The Brits are known for at least two things: their witty sense of humor and bad food. Of course, these are just clichés that probably also contain a grain of truth or two. How large the proportion of the granule actually is is not to be discussed here. Nor is it regarding repeating one or the other of the numerous stupid jokes that are circulating regarding British food. Like that of former French President Jacques Chirac, who once said: When you think of English cuisine, you first think it’s crap… and then you regret that it’s not. No, we will never go to that level. Rather, the aim here is to illuminate those cases in which British humor and British food meet. And that is surprisingly common in the traditional cuisine of the Kingdom.
