Thanh Binh made a mistake, Vietnam team was eliminated early
In the second match of Group D Asian Cup 2024, Vietnam National Team needs to win against Indonesia National Team if they want to maintain hope of winning tickets to the 1/8 round. After the initial period of being pressured, the Vietnamese team tried to regain the game with the ball control style of play built by coach Philippe Troussier.
However, at the end of the first half, defender Thanh Binh clearly fouled an Indonesian player. On the penalty spot, Asnawi scored the only goal of the match, bringing a 1-0 victory to Indonesia. This result also caused Vietnam National Team to be eliminated early regardless of the result of the final match against Iraq National Team.

With this mistake, Thanh Binh became the lowest scoring player in the starting lineup of both teams. Specifically, the Livesport site scored Thanh Binh 6.2 points. Another defender of the Vietnamese national team, Tuan Tai, only scored 6.3 points, equal to Tuan Anh and Quang Hai.
The bad parameters of Thanh Binh and Tuan Tai show the significant limitations of the Vietnamese team. Although Bui Hoang Viet Anh played very hard and was the player with the highest score in the match (7.7 points), he could not make up for his teammates’ mistakes. Goalkeeper Nguyen Filip also played relatively well (7.1 points), making no mistakes, but losing from the penalty spot made him once again unable to keep a clean sheet for the Vietnam national team.

Some other players of the Vietnam national team also played hard and had acceptable scores. Xuan Manh was scored 7.4 points, Minh Trong was scored 7.0 points. Meanwhile, Quang Hai and Tuan Hai were scored 6.5 points, and Van Tung was scored 6.6 points.
The average score of Vietnam’s starting lineup in the loss to Indonesia was 6.7 points. This number for the Indonesian national team is 7.1 points, in which defender Hubner scored 7.6 points, the highest on the island team.
