Today, January 17, marks the anniversary of the death of the artist, Faten Hamama, who left our world on this day in 2015, after leaving a huge artistic balance that enriched Egyptian cinema and drama over decades.
Although Faten Hamama married 3 times, her most famous marriage to the international artist Omar Sharif remained firmly rooted in her iconic form in the minds of the masses, and she started in the movie Struggle in the Valley, whose name she agreed to replace Shukri Sarhan, and during the filming of the film she completed the procedures for her divorce from her husband. Izz al-Din Zulfiqar, to announce after filming their marriage, which lasted until 1974.
Despite the love story that brought them together, the artist Omar Sharif did not remember her after her departure, due to his poor health and his diagnosis of Alzheimer’s.
The former Egyptian Minister of Antiquities, Zahi Hawass, mentioned the truth about what was reported in the media about Sharif’s grief after the death of Faten Hamama, and he said at the time in press statements that when Omar Sharif was told of the death of his former partner, Faten Hamama, he replied to him, saying: “Who is Faten Hamama?”, When he told him that she was the mother of his son Tariq, he asked, “Tariq is my brother?”
The Lady of the Arab Screen died on Saturday evening, January 17, 2015, at the age of 83 years and 8 months, as a result of a sudden health crisis.
