Baby news is flying around our ears. Gypsy Rose Blanchard also recently announced that she is pregnant. You have probably heard of this name in the past, but if it doesn’t ring a bell, we will first explain who this lady is.
Gypsy Rose pregnant
Gypsy Rose Blanchard, 32, announced her pregnancy in a YouTube video. The father is Ken Urker, 31. The pregnancy was not planned and the two have only just started dating. But she is no less happy regarding the pregnancy – it is ‘very much wanted’.
But why are people so up in arms regarding this revelation? Gypsy Rose has had a particularly turbulent time.
Known for murdering his own mother
Gypsy Rose became ‘world famous’ because in 2015 she had her own mother Dee Dee murdered by her then boyfriend. Her mother suffered from Munchausen by proxy syndrome – a syndrome in which the parent pretends that the child is ill, but causes it themselves. Or makes symptoms worse, in order to gain more sympathy from others. Dee Dee pretended that Gypsy had leukemia and a muscle disease, among other things. In 2015, enough was enough and Gypsy asked her then boyfriend to kill her mother: he stabbed the mother seventeen times.
Gyspy Rose was sentenced to 10 years in prison, but was released early in 2023 following serving 85 percent of her sentence. After her release, she became an instant TikTok sensation. In 2022, she married Ryan Anderson, a teacher who wrote to her and visited her in prison. But… that marriage didn’t last long, mainly because she didn’t feel safe with him. And now she’s happily married to Ken – and unexpectedly pregnant.
What happened to Gypsy’s ex-boyfriend?
Gypsy is free, but what happened to the ex-boyfriend she convinced to actually kill her mother? The ex-boyfriend was sentenced to life, so he is still in prison. A journalist once asked her if she thinks that is unfair: “Okay, I’m sure we are both sorry. All I can say is: I served my sentence, he is serving his sentence for his part. I wish him the best with his journey,” she replied at the time.
Concerns regarding quality as a parent
It is not surprising that some people are now worried regarding the future family situation of Gypsy Rose and her new partner. Because – how does she want to take care of her child now? She has a very clear answer to that in the YouTube video: “All the things I would have liked in a mother, I am going to give to this baby. I am a mother now, I am happy and I just want to be a good mother to my child.”
