Who is Queen Elizabeth’s favorite football player?

Swedish coach Sven-Goran Eriksson, former coach of the England national team, revealed a conversation he had with Queen Elizabeth II, during which she revealed to him her favorite football player.

Queen Elizabeth II, Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, died at the age of 96 on Thursday.

Ericsson took charge of the England national team between 2001 and 2006, and although the team was full of shining stars, he did not win anything.

Speaking to the Sacked in the Morning podcast, Al Suwaidi told me: I was invited to lunch with the Queen with 10 other people, and at one point I asked her: Do you like football?

He continued: “I asked her regarding her favorite player or team, I thought she would say David Beckham, but she told me it was Michael Owen.

Owen is the last British player to win the Ballon d’Or in 2001.
